Gary Bain is again our volunteer spotlight for summer 2011.
As a volunteer, Gary has produced the local United Way campaign video for the past
five years.  Gary believes that is important to contribute to our community in some way and says as most volunteers know,”you get a lot more than you give.”

Gary contributes an intense two weeks or more for the campaign video including shooting the video and editing. He feels that the United Way is such an all-encompassing effort that touches “so many lives and so many needs, in so many ways, that it makes a very compelling organization to volunteer for.”

When asked if there was a particular meaningful experience that stands out while producing the video, Gary says that he has been touched by how much the Partner Agency staffs are driven to truly make a difference, stop negative cycles and provide essential services and education to their clients.  He is thankful for the many United Way volunteers who give so much of their time, expertise and energy to making sure that the United Way has the support it needs to do its best. 

Over the years, he has produced pro-bono print and video work for the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, University Medical Center Forum and the Kidney Foundation.

Gary knows that the “United Way impacts the community in almost every way- Educational. Advocator. Medical. Emotional. Spiritual. Inspirational. From the newborn to the geriatric….United Way touches lives…gives hope and fulfills the promise to LIVE UNITED.”
