We take our mandate from the Diocese of Lubbock to serve people of all faiths acting always in favor of the poor while challenging oppression and injustice. We strive to empower those we serve and those who help us serve to become all
they can become – brothers and sisters in the Lord as members of the Body of Christ.
Programs funded by the Lubbock Area United Way:
» Elderly Outreach Program – assists low-income elderly persons with eye glasses, prescriptions, hearing aids, dentures and transportation
Other Catholic Charities areas of service include:
» Youth at Risk Program - Assist runaways, homeless, truants, first offender youth and families with crisis intervention parenting classes and shelter.
» Family Life Service – works to strengthen families through counseling, health education programs and other services
» Justice and Peace - works to create justice and peace in our community through parish social ministry committees, education, training, advocacy and organization.
» Emergency Assistance – works to ease crises caused by lack of funds through partial help with food, shelter and medications, counseling and referral, client reimbursement program, and thrift stores
» ReSale Center/Thrift Store - Provides funds to carry out CFS mission; located at 2218 34th Street, Lubbock.
» Counseling Program – Provides high quality, low cost counseling services to low-income clients who do not have insurance or sufficient funds to pay private counselors
